The full moon in 3D
|
| Date, time: |
20080223 |
| Location: |
Hågadalen, Uppsala |
| Instrument: |
Celestron C8-NGT, Newton with 1 m focal width
|
| Detector: |
Canon 400D, ISO200, Mosaic using 5 images with 1/125s exposure time
|
| Limit. mag.: |
|
| Circumstances: |
Clear
|
| Comments: |
Use blue/red 3D glasses to view the image. The anaglyph is generated from a single image by projecting the image on a sphere and then rotating the sphere slightly. The rotated left and right images are then merged to give the final image. |

Clear but windy. Heavy turbulence
|
| Comments: |
Ten 12-bit RAW images were stacked in Registax using a multipoint alignment (to handle the turbulence) with 52 points.
Wavelet filter and rotation "right side up" with a touch of unsharp mask added in GIMP. |

| Comments: |
The image shows the dark part of the moon dimly lit by earthshine (light reflected from earth's dayside). Note the 8.5 magnitude star HP30644 disappearing behind the moon. Nine images were stacked in Registax and processed with unsharp mask and light curves in GIMP.
